A Sub-Zero that has lived in one of those kitchens since an older remodel may be a 600 or 700 series built-in, and after twenty years or more the copper in its sealed system starts to give. The first sign is quiet. One side drifts a few degrees warm while the other holds.

Because each side has its own compressor and evaporator, a single warm compartment tells us where to look. Our technician, based in Benicia and EPA 608 Type I certified, reads the suction line temperature, listens to the compressor cycle and checks the evaporator behind the lower kickplate. You pay $99 for the diagnostic, and that $99 is credited toward the repair if you approve the written quote we give you first.

Common repairs we handle.

One compartment warm, the other normal. We isolate the failing side before quoting. A fan motor, a thermistor and a slow refrigerant leak can all produce the same complaint, but they lead to very different repairs. Temperature readings across both sides and a look at the evaporator usually settle it on the first visit.
Nitrogen leak test and sealed-system rebuild. When the readings point to a leak, we pressure the lines with nitrogen and map every leak with soap before brazing. On older copper, a real fix rebuilds the corroded run so you are not paying the labor twice. Recovery, brazing, evacuation and recharge happen as one job.
Thermistor reading out of range. A failed thermistor makes the control misjudge the compartment, so food freezes in the fresh-food side or the freezer runs soft. We check each sensor's resistance against its temperature and replace the one that reads wrong. Sensors age together, so we test all of them while the panel is open.
