Common issues
Monogram is GE’s premium line, and it is built well enough to earn a second life. We regularly bring back 20-year-old Monograms that are still going strong, with a full sealed-system rebuild backed by a 2-year warranty. We are an EPA-certified sealed-system shop (EPA #1279674151528), and on Monogram a rebuild is usually money well spent.
The second life is what sets Monogram apart. When a 20-year-old unit starts to fade, the cabinet and the build are usually still sound. The sealed system is what wears out. We do a full sealed-system replacement and back the work with a 2-year warranty on the repair. That turns an old fridge that is still alive into one good for years more. Plenty of brands aren’t worth that kind of work because the parts aren’t there or the build won’t justify it. Monogram was built to be serviced, and a rebuild on a good one beats replacing a premium built-in.
The everyday calls track the GE line: inverter boards, the board that drives the compressor, common and fixable. Evaporator and condenser fans. Defrost problems, iced-over coils, stuck defrost cycles. Less often, control boards.
The $75 service call is flat and includes full diagnostics. A straightforward repair like a fan or inverter board runs from $250 plus parts. A full sealed-system rebuild is the larger job, up to $4000 with a 2-year warranty on the repair. We quote before any work, so you decide with the real number in front of you.
Monogram ovens and ranges
Monogram also builds professional gas ranges and wall ovens, and the most common call on those is the bake or broil igniter. A gas oven igniter weakens with age until it glows but no longer draws enough current to open the safety gas valve, so the oven stops heating even though the igniter still lights up. We test the igniter current draw before condemning the valve, replace the igniter, and confirm the burner lights and holds temperature. Oven control boards and oven sensors are the next bucket.
