How often should our Manitowoc be sanitized on EBMUD water?

Our staff cleaned the machine with a household cleaner. Could that cause problems?

Common repairs we handle.

Slime in the water trough and on the curtain. Pink or black film in the trough and on the curtain means the water system needs cleaning and sanitizing. We take the curtain, trough and distribution tube apart, clean and sanitize each one, run a cleaning cycle through the machine, and flush it before ice goes back into service.
Ice that tastes or smells off. Off taste usually comes from a spent water filter, a dirty bin or biofilm in the water system. Sometimes it is the drain, if bin water is not leaving freely. We check each in turn, change the filter, sanitize the bin and water system, and confirm the drain has a proper air gap.
Water inlet valve that will not shut off. An inlet valve that leaks through keeps water running to the drain and throws off the fill for the next cycle. We test the valve, replace it if it will not close fully, and check the water level on the next freeze before we leave.
