Follett in Castro Valley
Follett commercial service.
Castro Valley Boulevard and the surrounding strip malls carry a mix of medical and dental offices, family restaurants, and cafes, and Follett dispensers show up in both settings, patient waiting rooms as often as kitchens. Proximity to Cal State East Bay in Hayward means some of these accounts also see cafeteria style volume during the school year.
A lot of the equipment here is mid age, old enough to need real repair work but young enough that owners want it fixed properly rather than replaced. We give a written quote before starting, and the $99 diagnostic is credited toward the repair.

Common repairs we handle.
- Condenser Coil Fouling and Capacitor Failure. Strip mall mechanical spaces in Castro Valley tend to share ventilation with neighboring units, and dust or kitchen exhaust from next door settles on the condenser fins faster than in a standalone building. Once airflow is restricted, head pressure and amp draw rise cycle after cycle, and the run capacitor is the first part to fail under that load. I clean the coil and test the capacitor together on every call here.
- Water Inlet or Drain Blockage. Medical office break rooms often run the ice machine lightly most days and then hit it hard during a busy clinic morning, which is exactly when a partially restricted water inlet shows up as a low production alarm. I check the inlet valve and drain line before opening up the refrigeration side.
- Auger Motor and Gearbox Wear. Family restaurants along the Boulevard that run these machines daily put steady cycles on the auger motor, and gearbox wear shows up as reduced ice output with the machine still running and sounding normal. I test amp draw under load to confirm before quoting a repair.

FAQ
Follett in Castro Valley questions, answered.
-
How long does it take you to get to Castro Valley from San Ramon?
About 20 to 25 minutes via 580 west. Castro Valley sits right between Hayward, San Leandro, and Dublin, so if we've got another call nearby that day we can usually work you into the same trip. -
Do you service medical office break room units the same as restaurant kitchens?
Yes, same brand, same repair process. A Follett dispenser in a clinic waiting room gets the same diagnostic approach as one in a restaurant kitchen. -
Is there a warranty if a part fails again after you fix it?
Any repair carries a 1 year warranty on the parts and labor for that specific repair. A full new install carries at least one year on equipment and labor.
