Berkeley is one of the few East Bay cities where we actually see Fisher & Paykel in the wild. The North Berkeley and Berkeley Hills remodels, the 94707 and 94708 hill ZIPs, put in F&P column refrigerators and double DishDrawers when they wanted something past Bosch but did not want to go full Sub-Zero. Most of those installs are ten to twenty years old now, which is right where the brand starts to show its signature failures.

The double DishDrawer is the call we get most here. The lid actuator on the upper drawer wears out, the drawer stops locking, and an F1 fault flashes before the cycle will start. Down in the South and West Berkeley flatlands we hardly see F&P at all, that stock runs GE, LG, Samsung and Bosch, so when a Berkeley F&P call comes in it is almost always a hill house and almost always a DishDrawer or a column fridge.

Water and ice systems

Every fridge with a dispenser or ice maker has a water inlet valve. The fittings can leak under the cabinet, or the solenoid fails and the dispenser and ice maker stop getting water.

  • DishDrawer lid actuator replacement. Drawer won't lock, F1 fault, cycle won't start. We replace the lid motor and the seal together. Motor alone leaks within six months.
  • DishDrawer wash motor. Drawer drains but won't spray. Quiet hum instead of a strong spray sound. One-visit motor swap, parts in stock.
  • Column-fridge control-board comms fault. Fridge looks dead, compressor still running, reset does nothing. Door-hinge ribbon harness worn at the bend. We replace the harness and verify comms.
  • French-door evaporator fan. ActiveSmart units, loud rattle that comes and goes. Sealed fan motor, 30-minute install.
