Bosch in Clayton

Bosch in Clayton kitchens.

Clayton sits at the foot of Mount Diablo, and its summers are hot and dry. A built-in Bosch refrigerator in a warm kitchen has to reject more heat, and its inverter compressor runs longer to keep up. That is normal. What is not normal is one compartment warming while the other holds, and on the built-in side-by-side units that often points to the magnetic solenoid valve that routes refrigerant between the two coils, or to its control.

We check the valve and read the NTC sensors before anyone opens the sealed system. If sealed-system work turns out to be needed, our technician is EPA 608 Type I certified and quotes it in writing first. Clayton calls go to our technician based in Benicia. The $99 diagnostic is credited toward the repair.

What the work looks like

A gas oven burner lighting clean after service.

A gas oven bake burner lighting with an even blue flame after service. The white bar is the glow-bar igniter, and when it weakens the oven will not heat even though it still glows.

Common repairs we handle.

  • One compartment warm on a built-in side-by-side. The fresh-food and freezer sides share one inverter compressor, and a solenoid valve decides which coil gets refrigerant. When that valve sticks or its control stops switching it, one side warms while the other stays cold. We test the valve coil and the control output and replace the failed part.
  • Condenser choked with dust behind the grille. Built-in refrigerators breathe through a grille, and dust there cuts airflow just when the kitchen is hottest. We clean the condenser and its fan, check that the fan runs at speed, and compare temperatures once the unit settles.
  • Induction overheat codes on hot afternoons. In a hot kitchen the cooling fan under an induction cooktop starts with warmer air, so a partly blocked intake that coped in spring can trip an F47 or E5 code in July. We clean the intake and heat sink, test the fan, and check the module temperature with a probe.

FAQ

Bosch in Clayton questions, answered.

  • Our Bosch built-in runs almost nonstop on hot Clayton afternoons. Is that a fault?
Not by itself. An inverter compressor is designed to run long and slow rather than cycle hard on and off. If the temperatures inside hold steady, it is doing its job. If a compartment warms up, or the unit never slows down once the evening cools, book a diagnostic.
  • Does Clayton's Delta water affect a Bosch ice maker?
Clayton is on treated Delta water from the Contra Costa Water District. Whatever the water, a slow ice maker usually comes down to an old filter, a weak inlet valve or a frozen fill tube, and we test those in that order.
  • Do you service Bosch built-ins in Peacock Creek and Oakhurst?
Yes. Peacock Creek, the Oakhurst area, Dana Hills, Clayton Wood and Cardinet Glen are all covered. If your community has a gate, add the access details to your booking.
