Old Palo Alto and Crescent Park remodels don't run Amana. Those are Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Bosch kitchens. Where Amana turns up in 94301 and 94303 is the University South and Midtown apartment stock, the duplexes, and the landlord-grade units that came with the building. AGR and AER ranges, ART top-freezers, and Amana dishwashers are the standard fit, often original to a unit that's seen a lot of tenants.

On the gas ranges the call is the AGR surface igniter that clicks but won't catch. People go after the gas valve and the igniter is the actual fault almost every time. On the electric AER units it's the bake element or the oven sensor, cold oven versus no heat. Amana dishwashers fail at the inlet valve and the door latch, both 20-minute fixes. Peninsula water is hard, so the inlet valves scale up and quit sooner than they should.

Dishwasher inlet valve or door latch. The two Amana dishwasher failures. Hard peninsula water scales the inlet valve and shortens its life. Quick fix.
Top-freezer defrost and gasket. Door gasket that lost its seal, or a defrost heater, thermostat, or timer fault icing the freezer. We test the defrost chain in sequence.
