Start with the fill and the door

An Amana dishwasher that will not begin a cycle often has a door-latch or water-inlet problem. We check that the latch closes cleanly, confirm water reaches the machine, and test the inlet valve before naming a failed part.

Standing water needs a different sequence. The filter and drain path come first, followed by the drain pump and its electrical supply. For a leak, we trace where the water starts instead of assuming every puddle means a bad door seal.

During the first visit, we also check the model and serial, stored fault information where available, supply voltage, and the way the drain hose connects under the sink. That separates an appliance failure from a blocked disposal connection, closed water supply, or door that is not latching because the unit has shifted in the cabinet.

Repair cost versus replacement

Amana sits at the value end of the market. On a dishwasher that sold for less than about $1,000, a small mechanical repair may make sense while a large pump or control repair can land too close to the cost of another machine.
