The common calls are a clogged condensate line on the wall head or a comms fault to the outdoor unit. I clear the drain or trace the head-to-condenser wiring rather than chase a duct that is not there.
Variable-speed blower board on XV furnaces in ranch homes. The updated Los Altos ranch homes often run Trane XV variable-speed furnaces, and the proprietary blower board is the part that fails. When the blower behaves oddly or codes out, I confirm the board against the motor first, because it is the brand-specific and costlier part.
Coil fouling from mature landscaping debris. The established yards here drop leaves and clippings into the outdoor unit, and a fouled Trane coil drives up head pressure and weakens cooling. I clean the coil and check airflow so the Climatuff compressor is not running hot against a restricted condenser.
