Trane in Mountain View
Trane heating and cooling in Mountain View.
Mountain View has a real mix. There are mid-century Eichlers near Cuesta Park with radiant floors and no ductwork, older ranch homes around Monta Loma, and newer high-density builds near downtown. The Trane equipment I service here ranges from heat pumps retrofitted into ductless homes to standard split systems in the tract neighborhoods.
The bay keeps Mountain View mild, so the cooling load is light and Trane systems here tend to last. That is good for the Climatuff compressor and bad for the small parts that sit unused all winter and then get asked to work on the first warm week. Capacitors and contactors are the usual first call.
We handle HVAC through Bay Area HVAC Service. I am EPA 608 Universal certified, CSLB licensed under 1136642, and I give you a written quote before anything happens. The $75 diagnostic is waived with the repair, and repairs carry a 1-year warranty.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Ductless heat pump retrofits in Eichler homes. The Eichlers near Cuesta have no attic and no duct space, so when the old radiant system fails people move to a Trane ductless heat pump. The common service call after that is a clogged indoor head drain or a refrigerant line leak at the wall penetration. I clean the head and pressure-test the lines.
- Run capacitor failure after winter idle. Because Mountain View barely uses cooling, the AC sits idle for months and then the run capacitor fails on the first hot day. The compressor hums and will not start. It is a cheap part and a quick fix, and I keep them on the truck so you are not waiting.
- Furnace igniter and flame sensor faults. On the standard Trane furnaces in Monta Loma and the older tracts, the hot surface igniter and flame sensor are the usual no-heat callers. The sensor gets a coating of oxide and the furnace lights then shuts down. I clean or replace the sensor and check the igniter so it lights clean.

FAQ
Trane in Mountain View questions, answered.
-
What is the drive time from San Ramon to Mountain View?
We come down 680 and across, usually 40 to 45 minutes off peak from San Ramon. Mountain View is on our South Bay route with Los Altos, Sunnyvale, Menlo Park and Palo Alto, so we batch those into one day. -
My Eichler has no ducts. Can you still put in a Trane system?
Yes. For ductless Eichlers we use a Trane ductless heat pump with wall or ceiling heads. It heats and cools without needing duct space, which the Eichlers do not have. I look at the layout and give you a written plan. -
Are there rebates for a Trane heat pump here?
There are local and utility programs that change often. I do not quote rebate dollar amounts up front. We confirm what is actually paying at estimate time so you get the real number, not a guess.
