The flame sensor usually gets cleaned at the same visit because fouling on the sensor rod can cause the same lockout sequence and you do not want to come back for that.
Capacitor and Contactor Wear on the Outdoor Condenser. Orinda summers are dry and hot, and the condensers up in the hills run long hours during heat waves. The run capacitor supporting the compressor and condenser fan motor degrades under that thermal load, and the contactor contacts pit and arc over time. A weak capacitor shows up as slow motor start, high amp draw, and eventually a compressor that hums but will not turn over.
