Ductless mini-split repair in Danville
Problem: The owner uses their Danville garage as a home gym, and a budget mini-split keeps it comfortable. A contractor without a license installed it about four months ago. When it stopped cooling and the owner asked for warranty help, the installer said they had gone out of business.
Diagnostics: Our gauges showed the system had no refrigerant left. A sealed system only loses refrigerant through a leak, so we went looking for it. Leak-detection solution found it at the flare connections, the joints where the copper line set is flared and tightened onto the units. One flare had a visible split in the copper. The line set was also much longer than it needed to be, coiled up beside the outdoor unit, and the drain line was tied in a knot.
Solution: We reworked the install. We removed the extra line set, made new flares on every connection, and ran the drain line straight so the water can get out. Then we pulled a deep vacuum to clear air and moisture from the lines and charged the system with new refrigerant, weighed on a scale.
Result: The mini-split is back in service with a short, tidy line set and a working drain. The repair carries our one-year warranty, and we’re licensed under CSLB #1136642, so there’s a company behind it. Before you hire an installer, check their license on the CSLB website and ask who handles a warranty claim. We repair ductless mini-splits in Danville and across the Tri-Valley.
