Sub-Zero in San Bruno
Sub-Zero in San Bruno kitchens.
San Bruno's Sub-Zero work concentrates up in Crestmoor and Rollingwood, the view homes built into the hillside under San Bruno Mountain. Those kitchens tend to be remodeled once, often with a 36-inch column or side-by-side replacing whatever came with the house. Down in the flats near El Camino and the BART corridor, the units skew a bit older and smaller, 30-inch built-ins mostly.
San Bruno Mountain throws real wind at the hillside houses most afternoons, and that wind carries grit and eucalyptus debris that settles on condenser grilles faster than in a sheltered yard. It's a maintenance factor I flag on every hillside visit here.
We run San Bruno on the same North-Peninsula swing as South San Francisco and Pacifica, with Millbrae close by on the Mid-Peninsula side.
What the work looks like
A built-in sealed-system leak repair.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Condenser coil fouling from hillside wind debris. Grilles on the Crestmoor and Rollingwood homes collect dust and eucalyptus litter faster than flatland installs because of the wind coming off the mountain. A clogged coil raises head pressure and shortens compressor life. I clean the coil and check running amps to confirm the compressor wasn't damaged before it got caught.
- Evaporator fan motor noise in the freezer column. A grinding or clicking sound from the freezer side, usually intermittent at first. The evaporator fan bearing wears out and the motor starts hitting the fan blade before it fails completely. I replace the motor and check the blade for damage in the same visit.
- Water filter housing leak. A slow drip inside the cabinet that owners often blame on condensation until it soaks the cabinet floor. The O-ring in the filter housing hardens with age and starts weeping at the seal. I replace the housing seal and check the water line fittings behind it while I'm in there.

FAQ
Sub-Zero in San Bruno questions, answered.
-
Do you actually get out to San Bruno, or is that a long drive from San Ramon?
We have a technician based on the Peninsula now, in San Mateo County, and San Bruno is on that route along with South San Francisco and Millbrae. It's not the East Bay tech making the trip. Booking depends on how that week's Peninsula route lines up, and we'll tell you straight when we schedule the call. -
Is ADRIUM a Sub-Zero authorized dealer?
No. We're not part of Sub-Zero's factory service network, that's a separate channel for factory warranty claims. We're independent specialists who work on this brand daily and handle sealed-system repairs under EPA #1279674151528. If your unit is under factory warranty, start with Sub-Zero directly. Out of warranty, we can usually get to San Bruno without the wait the factory channel sometimes has. -
Does the wind up in Crestmoor actually affect the fridge, or is that just dust?
It's more than dust. The wind off San Bruno Mountain pushes grit and eucalyptus debris into the condenser grille faster than in a sheltered kitchen, and a clogged coil makes the compressor work harder than it should. I'd rather clean a coil twice a year on a hillside unit than replace a compressor that overheated because nobody looked at it.
