What we close on the truck.

Start component failures after power shutoffs. A compressor that hums and trips after an outage usually has a failed start relay or capacitor, not a failed compressor. We test the windings and the start kit separately and replace only what measured bad. Owners who were quoted a new machine elsewhere are often running again for the cost of a small part.
Leaking dump valves on aging undercounter units. Ten-year-old residential units develop dump valves that no longer seal, so freeze water drains away mid-cycle and the ice comes out thin and cloudy. It is a straightforward replacement, and while we are in the machine we descale the sump and check the drain trap, because those age together.
Harvest sticking from scaled evaporators. Lamorinda machines that skipped their cleanings build scale on the evaporator until cubes grip the plate and the safety limit trips. We descale to the factory procedure and inspect the plating, and I will tell you honestly if past scale damage means the evaporator's days are numbered.
