What we close on the truck.
- Slime and mineral buildup from skipped cleanings. Ice machines are food equipment, and a neglected water system grows biofilm that ends up in customer drinks. We do the full Manitowoc cleaning procedure, sanitize the water circuit, and pull the parts the quick-rinse crowd skips: the distribution tube, the curtain, the sump. Then we set a cleaning schedule that matches the machine's actual duty.
- Dump valve leaking through freeze cycles. A dump valve that will not seal drains water during the freeze, so the machine makes a thin, hollow slab and sometimes faults on long freeze. Cafe owners usually notice the ice looks wrong before any code appears. We replace the valve and check what got into it, because debris that killed one valve will kill its replacement.
- Late harvests on undercounter home units. Residential Manitowoc units that harvest late or incompletely usually have a scaled evaporator or a tired harvest valve. In Los Altos remodel installs we also find drain lines routed uphill, which keeps meltwater in the machine and mimics a harvest fault. We diagnose the whole path, not just the headline symptom.

How long is the trip from San Ramon to Los Altos?
Usually 50 to 60 minutes, across the Dumbarton and down through Mountain View, or 680 to 237 depending on traffic. Los Altos sits at the center of our Peninsula loop with Mountain View, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, and Los Altos Hills, so we are nearby several days each week. -
Can you service our cafe before opening hours?
Early slots are often the right answer downtown, where parking and prep-time access are both easier before 8 am. We work seven days, and if the machine is down hard we treat it as the emergency it is for a cafe. -
The ice tastes off but the machine seems to work. Is that a repair call?
It is a legitimate service call. Off-taste usually means biofilm in the water system, a spent filter, or a bin sanitation problem, and occasionally a failing food-zone component. The $75 diagnostic covers finding the cause, and it is waived if you have us do the work.
