Overfiltered water defeating the ice thickness probe. RO and deionized water carry almost no minerals, so the conductivity probe never sees the ice bridge form. The machine logs long freeze faults on a unit that is mechanically perfect. The fix is a mineral blend cartridge or a bypass on the ice machine feed line, and we set that up so the probe reads reliably.
Bin switch and curtain problems on outdoor units. Outdoor kitchen installs collect pollen, cottonwood fluff, and spider webs in places an indoor machine never would. A fouled water curtain or sticky bin switch tells the controller the bin is full when it is not, and the machine just sits there. We clean and test the switch travel and replace it if the contacts have oxidized.
Failed water inlet valve after long idle periods. Estate machines often sit unused for weeks, and inlet valve diaphragms take that badly. They either weep constantly, which floods the sump and makes soft cloudy ice, or they stick shut and the machine dry-fires. We replace the valve, verify inlet pressure, and recommend a shutdown routine for the seasons you are away.
