Heat is the other factor. Summer afternoons here push past 95, and a kitchen with west-facing glass or a garage freezer takes the full load. A built-in that keeps up in spring and falls behind in July is pointing at its condenser, its fan or its door seal, and we check them in that order. First fan failure on a Dougherty Valley column. Evaporator and condenser fans are wear parts, and after ten to fifteen years of running, their bearings dry out. The first sign is a new noise, then a cabinet that runs warm on hot days. We find which fan has slowed, replace it and check the other one while the panel is off.
Garage freezer losing ground on July afternoons. A closed garage can get hotter than the outdoor air by late afternoon, and a freezer in it has to push its heat into that. A dusty condenser or a weak fan is enough to tip it over. We clean the coil, check the fan and the door seal, and tell you plainly if the spot itself is the problem.
Heavy panel door dropping on a Bridges column. A custom panel adds real weight to an integrated door, and over the years the hinge gives a little. The door drops at the handle side, the top corner stops sealing and frost appears behind it. We adjust or replace the hinge, reset the closing tension and check the gasket all the way round.
