I replace the gasket, true up the door alignment, and clean the condenser while it is apart so the fix holds.

A lot of Daly City garages still hold the chest freezer the family bought when they moved in, and the start relay is usually the first part to give out. It clicks, hums, shuts off on overload, and repeats. Relay and run capacitor together, checked against the compressor's amp draw, is the standard repair.
