- Profile ice maker slowing down, then stopping. Minerals in hard water collect on the inlet valve screen and inside the valve, so each fill gets shorter. Cubes come out small or hollow before production stops. We check the valve coil and the water pressure at the fridge, then replace whichever part actually failed: the valve or the ice maker module.
- Cafe oven shutting off with an F2 code. F2 is an over-temperature fault. On a Cafe range it usually means the oven temperature sensor, the RTD, has drifted and is telling the control the cavity is hotter than it is. We measure the sensor, replace it if it reads out of range, and run a bake to confirm the oven holds its setting.
- Profile dishwasher leaving white film on glasses. Hard water leaves film when the rinse aid runs dry or the wash water is not hot enough. On a Profile we also look at the fill valve screen, since scale there cuts the water per fill and weakens the wash. Light buildup clears with a descaling cycle. A scaled valve gets replaced.

Vallejo water is on the hard side. Should I change my GE fridge filter more often?
Change it on the schedule GE gives for your model. The filter improves taste and catches sediment, but it does not soften the water, so it will not keep scale off the valve. If ice production drops anyway, have the valve checked before you buy another filter. -
Our Glen Cove kitchen has a GE Profile fridge that runs warm. Is it worth fixing?
