GE in San Pablo

GE in San Pablo kitchens.

San Pablo sits on the flat ground between the north end of the Berkeley Hills and San Pablo Bay, and more of its housing went up in the 1940s through the 1960s than in any other era. Single-family houses sit beside a large share of apartments and row houses. So the GE in your kitchen may belong to you or to a landlord, and it may be a Profile or an entry-tier Adora. That changes the repair math.

A Profile with a dead ice maker or defrost heater is almost always worth fixing. An Adora with a failed sealed system rarely is, and we say so before a panel comes off. Our technician for San Pablo is based in Benicia. The diagnostic costs $99 and is credited toward the repair, and nothing gets replaced until the written quote is approved.

Water and ice systems

The water inlet valve, a common fridge leak.

Every fridge with a dispenser or ice maker has a water inlet valve. The fittings can leak under the cabinet, or the solenoid fails and the dispenser and ice maker stop getting water.

Common repairs we handle.

  • Entry-tier GE fridge that stopped cooling. We start with the inexpensive suspects: the compressor start relay, the condenser fan and the defrost parts. If one of those is the fault, the repair is small and worth doing. If the compressor or the sealed system has failed, we tell you the fridge is a replacement and put that in writing for you or your landlord.
  • Profile ice maker that quit while the fridge still cools. When ice stops but everything else works, the suspects are the ice maker module and the water inlet valve. EBMUD water is soft to moderate, so heavy scale is an unlikely cause here. We test the valve coil and the water supply at the back of the fridge, then replace the part that failed.
  • Puddle under a GE washer. A leak under a GE washer usually comes from the door boot on a front-loader, the drain pump housing, or a loose hose at the back. We run the machine with the cover off to find which one, then replace the part that is actually leaking rather than guessing.

FAQ

GE in San Pablo questions, answered.

  • I rent in San Pablo. Can my landlord book the GE repair?
Yes. Whoever books gets the written quote, and nothing is replaced until they approve it. If you are the one at home, our technician walks you through the fault and sends the quote to the owner or manager.
  • How can I tell if my GE fridge is an Adora or a Profile?
Look for the model and serial tag inside the fresh-food section, usually on a side wall near the top. Send us that model number when you book, and we tell you up front whether it is a unit worth repairing or one where a new fridge is the better buy.
  • Do you service GE appliances in apartments and row houses, not just houses?
Yes. In an apartment, tell us where to park, how to get into the building, and whether a manager needs to open a shared laundry room. We work on the appliance where it is installed.
