GE in Hillsborough
GE in Hillsborough kitchens.
Hillsborough has no commercial district at all, which means every GE appliance I touch here is residential and most of it is high end. The pattern in these hillside homes is a kitchen remodeled once in the 2000s and again recently, with a Monogram or Café package sized for entertaining. Forty-eight inch built-in refrigerators, dual wall ovens, and a warming drawer nobody remembers the brand of until it stops warming.
GE belongs to Haier these days, and some owners worry that changed parts availability. It did not, at least not in the direction they fear. The distribution chain still stocks boards, fans, valves, and icemaker kits for units going back well over a decade, and the tech documentation is the same format I have always used. What has changed is more electronics per appliance, so more failures are board-level, and I diagnose those with a meter, not by guessing and swapping.
ADRIUM Service Solutions is based in San Ramon, run by me, Andrew Kuznetsov. EPA 608 Universal, CSLB #1136642. $75 diagnostic, waived with repair, written quotes always, one year repair warranty, available 7 days.

Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- GE Café french door refrigerator icemaker failures. Café CFE28 and similar french door boxes have a well known icemaker weak point. Either the icemaker motor module quits or the fill tube freezes and starves it. I check the water inlet valve and fill system before condemning the icemaker itself, because half the time the valve is the real problem. Hillsborough water is not hard enough to be the villain here, this is a design issue, and the fix holds.
- Monogram built-in ice buildup and warm fresh food section. On Monogram built-ins in these larger homes I regularly find a frosted evaporator behind a failed defrost heater or thermostat. Symptoms creep in over weeks, the fresh food side drifts warm while the freezer seems fine. It is a straightforward repair once the panel is off, and much cheaper than the sealed system failure people fear when a built-in acts up.
- GE Profile induction and radiant cooktop element failures. Recent Hillsborough remodels went heavily to GE Profile induction, PHP9036 class units. When one zone dies the fault is usually the generator board for that side, not the coil. On older radiant glass tops it is the element or the infinite switch. I test at the board connector so you are not paying for a part the cooktop did not need.

FAQ
GE in Hillsborough questions, answered.
-
How long is the drive from San Ramon to Hillsborough?
About 40 to 45 minutes over the San Mateo Bridge on Highway 92, which drops us practically at your door. Hillsborough pairs naturally with Atherton, Palo Alto, and Los Altos Hills on our Mid-Peninsula route days, so scheduling is easier than the distance suggests. Morning slots beat the bridge traffic. -
My GE built-in is over 15 years old. Is it still worth repairing?
Usually yes, and I will give you a straight answer per unit. Monogram built-ins from that era were built heavy, and parts for most of them are still available. The math changes if the sealed system fails on a very old unit. I quote the repair in writing and tell you plainly if replacement makes more sense. -
Do you handle warranty or is this out-of-pocket work?
We are an independent shop, so our work is our own. $75 diagnostic, waived if you approve the repair, one year warranty on what we fix. If a rebate or utility program applies to related work, we confirm what is actually paying at estimate time rather than promising numbers from an old flyer.
