- Condenser Coil Fouling and Capacitor Failure. Estate units tucked into a wet bar or wine room often sit in a warm, closed cabinet with poor airflow around the condenser, which does the same damage a dirty coil does even when the coil itself is clean. Head pressure climbs, amp draw climbs with it, and the run capacitor fails first because it's the weakest link in that circuit. I check clearance and ventilation around the cabinet as much as the coil itself on these installs.
- Water Inlet or Drain Blockage. On a unit that only runs hard a few times a month for entertaining, mineral scale in the water inlet line builds up slowly and shows as a low production fault long before anyone notices reduced ice output day to day. I flush the inlet line and check the drain path before assuming the compressor is the problem.
- Auger Motor and Gearbox Wear. Gearbox wear is less common on lightly used estate machines, but when I do find it, it's usually from a unit that sat idle for months and then got run hard for one weekend event without a service check first. I check auger amp draw under load to confirm before quoting a gearbox or motor replacement.
