Cooper&Hunter in Danville

Cooper&Hunter heating and cooling in Danville.

Danville is our backyard. Custom homes and well-kept tracts from the 1970s through the 2000s, many with additions, bonus rooms, and converted garages that the original ducted system never reached. Those add-on spaces are where I find Cooper&Hunter most often, a single-zone head put in to handle one room without re-engineering the whole house.

Cooper&Hunter is budget ductless and it does the job when it was installed and charged right. Because we are right here in San Ramon, I get to Danville fast and I see a lot of these units, so I know the typical failure pattern well. It is almost always a flare leak or a charge issue, not a dead compressor.

Danville sits in the Tri-Valley, hot inland summers and cool winters, so these heads run in both modes. The summer heat is what stresses a marginal install. When a head cannot keep a bonus room cool in August it is usually undercharge or a unit sized a hair too small for the exposure.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Flare leak on an addition line set. Danville additions often sit at the far end of the house from the equipment, so the line set runs long with bends. The flare joints weep and the head loses capacity in summer. I reflare to spec, support the line, vacuum, and recharge to the nameplate weight.
  • Bonus room head undersized for the heat. A bonus room over a garage gets roof and wall heat that a borderline head cannot beat on a hot day. I measure the room load, check the charge, and tell you honestly whether it is a charge fix or whether the head was simply too small from the start.
  • Contactor or capacitor failure outdoors. Hard Tri-Valley summer cycling wears the contactor and run capacitor. A weak capacitor leaves the compressor humming and not starting on hot days. These are stocked parts, so on most Cooper&Hunter units it is a quick same-visit repair.

FAQ

Cooper&Hunter in Danville questions, answered.

  • How fast can you get to Danville from San Ramon?
Very fast. Danville is about ten minutes from our San Ramon base up I-680. We run Danville constantly alongside Blackhawk, San Ramon, and Alamo, so same or next-day service is often possible.
  • Is my bonus-room Cooper&Hunter worth fixing or should I replace it?
If it was sized right and just lost charge, repair is the clear call. If it was undersized for the room from day one, I will lay out repair versus replace in a written quote with the $75 diagnostic waived on repair.
  • Do you warranty the repair work?
Yes. Repairs carry a 1 year warranty. If you go with a new install instead, that is backed by 10 year parts and 10 year labor through our HVAC division, Bay Area HVAC Service.
