Bryant in Alamo
Bryant heating and cooling in Alamo.
Alamo runs hot. You are inland past the Caldecott, away from the bay air, so summer afternoons load a Bryant condenser hard for hours at a time. The homes here are larger, often on big lots in Round Hill and Westside, and many run two or three zones. When a Bryant Evolution system is set up for zoning, the zone dampers and the bypass have to be right or the system short cycles.
A lot of Alamo homes are custom builds from the 80s and 90s with the original Bryant or Carrier equipment still in place, now well past its design life. I see tired Bryant Preferred furnaces with cracked secondary heat exchangers and condensers with weak compressors that struggle on the worst days. We give a written quote either way, repair or replace, so you can decide with real numbers.
HVAC goes through our division, Bay Area HVAC Service, owner Andrew Kuznetsov, based right next door in San Ramon. CSLB #1136642, EPA Section 608 Universal certified.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Heat-soaked compressor on long afternoon runs. Alamo afternoons keep a Bryant condenser running for hours. The compressor heat soaks and trips on overload, often from a weak run capacitor or a dirty coil holding heat. We test the capacitor under load, clean the coil, and check refrigerant charge before it cooks the windings.
- Zone damper and bypass faults on Evolution systems. Bigger Alamo homes run zoned Bryant Evolution setups. When a zone damper motor fails or the bypass is set wrong, the system short cycles and one zone never satisfies. We test each damper actuator and reset the bypass so the airflow is right per zone.
- Cracked secondary heat exchanger on aging Preferred furnaces. Original Bryant Preferred furnaces from the 80s and 90s show cracks in the secondary heat exchanger after long service. That is a safety problem. We inspect with a camera and combustion analyzer and give you the honest call on repair versus replacement.

FAQ
Bryant in Alamo questions, answered.
-
How fast can you get to Alamo from San Ramon?
Alamo is close. From our San Ramon base it is about 10 to 15 minutes up Danville Boulevard, often through Danville. We cover Danville, Lafayette and Walnut Creek around you, so same-day is usually no problem here. -
My Alamo home has two zones. Can you keep the Bryant zoning working right?
Yes. We service the zone dampers, the bypass and the Evolution control as one system. When one zone never satisfies it is usually a failed damper actuator or a wrong bypass setting, and we test each one. -
Do you give a written quote before doing the work?
Always. You get a written quote before we start, and the $75 diagnostic is waived if you go ahead with the repair. No surprise numbers at the end.
