We would not. It sits inside the case next to live wiring and a hot boiler, and setting it needs a gauge at the group. If your shots changed suddenly, the cause may be a clog or a worn pump, and turning the valve only hides it.

Is a ten-year-old Dual Boiler worth fixing?

Usually. The BES920 is repaired part by part: pump, valves, gaskets, elements, sensors. After the bench diagnosis you get the quote in writing, and if several systems are worn at once and the total gets close to a new machine, we say so plainly.

What we repair on the bench.

Dual Boiler pressure drifting at the over-pressure valve. The OPV on the BES920 sets how much pressure reaches the puck. When it drifts or sticks, shots run thin or the pump sounds strained. We gauge the group, clean the valve, set it back to spec, and pull test shots to confirm.
Dual Boiler shots that stop short or run long. The Dual Boiler measures each shot with a flow meter. When the meter clogs or its sensor fails, the machine stops early, runs long, or ignores the programmed volume. We clean the meter, test its signal, then reprogram and time a double shot.
Water dripping around the portafilter rim. Brew water escaping around the rim of the portafilter means the group gasket has hardened or shrunk. We replace the gasket, clean the shower screen, and check that the portafilter locks in at the right angle. A good seal also keeps full pressure on the puck.
