Bosch in East Palo Alto

Bosch in East Palo Alto kitchens.

East Palo Alto runs a lot of rental housing, and the Bosch units I see here are mostly 500 Series fridges and compact washers landlords installed as the mid-tier upgrade over builder-grade stock. These are working kitchens run daily by families, and the failures I see are wear failures, not the electronics problems that show up more in the estate kitchens on the other side of the 101.

The two calls that repeat here are a float switch tripping on a leak too small to explain, and a recirc or drain pump that starts whining and then grinds. Both are shared-platform parts, so once I confirm which one is failing, the fix is usually a single visit.

Our technician on this side of the bay is based in San Mateo County, so East Palo Alto gets covered without a truck coming over from San Ramon every time.

What the work looks like

A gas oven burner lighting clean after service.

A gas oven bake burner lighting with an even blue flame after service. The white bar is the glow-bar igniter, and when it weakens the oven will not heat even though it still glows.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • E15 float switch trips, cycle stops mid-wash. Any water reaching the base pan, even a small amount, trips the anti-flood switch and locks the unit in drain mode. In rental units the usual source is a slow gasket leak or a hose clamp that worked loose over years of use. I find the actual leak before I clear anything, since resetting the switch without fixing the source just repeats the call.
  • Evaporator fan chirp into a warm fridge side. A chirp behind the freezer panel that turns into a warm fridge a few weeks later, common on the 500 Series units that make up most of the rental stock here. Same cooling platform runs across the Bosch fridge line, so I usually already have the part on the van.
  • No heat, dishes come out cold and wet. The heating circuit lives inside the circulation pump housing on these units, and when it fails you get a full cycle that never actually heats, sometimes with a fault code and sometimes without. I check the element and control output before replacing the housing, since a bad relay on the board can look identical.

FAQ

Bosch in East Palo Alto questions, answered.

  • Do you actually come out to East Palo Alto, or is it out of range?
We cover it as part of the regular Peninsula route. The technician assigned to this side of the bay is based in San Mateo County, so it is not an out-of-area trip.
  • My fridge is old. Is it worth repairing or should I replace it?
Depends what's failing. A fan or fill valve is a straightforward fix on almost any age of unit. If the compressor or the control board is going, I will tell you honestly when a repair no longer makes sense instead of running up a bill on a unit near the end of its life.
  • How does the diagnostic charge work?
It's $99 for the visit, and that amount comes off your total if you book the repair. You get a written quote before anything gets replaced.
