If your Wolf downdraft is stuck below the counter, don’t pull it upward by hand. Stop issuing movement commands and keep the moving area clear. The service chart has several possible causes for a hood body that will not rise; a failed lift motor is only one possible conclusion after testing.
This page uses Wolf’s Downdraft Ventilation SWS 15527762 Service Manual, revision C, February 2026. Its serial-number scope starts at 15527762. For an earlier unit, send the model and serial number so the technician can use the earlier documentation. The model key includes DD widths of 30, 36 and 45 inches.
Stuck down and stuck up need different checks
PDF page 23 lists a safety microswitch, fuses, a jammed filter assembly, power supply, remote control and lift-drive checks for “Hood body does not go up.” The chart only reaches a control-board replacement after the preceding checks. The symptom alone does not justify buying a board.
For a hood that will not lower, the same page starts with correctly fitted filter assemblies and their microswitches before its other electrical and control checks. Tell us if the problem began immediately after filter cleaning. That timing is useful evidence, although it does not prove a filter is the cause.
You can look from outside for an obviously displaced filter or an object in the moving path. Do not push a switch, force a filter assembly or remove the front panel to make the vent move. The cited procedures require access to powered components and the lift mechanism; we leave those tests to service.
It rises, but the fan stays off
Wolf gives this its own row on PDF page 24. The technician checks the remote-control connection and the control signal path. It is a different starting point from a hood that cannot rise at all. Photograph the normal control face and describe any response you have already observed; there is no need to cycle a stuck mechanism again for a video.
The chart also separates a misaligned or noisy hood body from a whistling sound. It directs service to alignment for the former and a hood-body gasket check for whistling. Write down which sound you hear and when it occurs, without removing panels to trace it.
What to send when booking
Use your appliance records for the model and serial number if the rating plate is inaccessible. Include whether the vent is raised or lowered, what happens at the controls, and any recent filter handling. Contact ADRIUM for independent Wolf service.
A downdraft repair takes two technicians, so the service call for that visit is $198, credited toward the repair. We quote the repair after testing, rather than price a lift motor from the description alone.
