Heating & cooling

AC & HVAC repair in San Jose.

Heat pump, AC, furnace, and ductless work across San Jose, from Willow Glen Eichlers to Almaden two-stories.

Call (925) 999-4095

San Jose is the hardest city in the South Bay to size one HVAC truck for, because no two neighborhoods share the same building era. A 1954 Eichler in Willow Glen with a dead radiant slab needs a completely different plan than a 2005 infill house in North San Jose with intact ductwork and a 14 SEER condenser already on its last legs. We repair, install, and replace heating and cooling across all of it.

Cooling is what drives most decisions here. Summer afternoons sit in the high 80s and low 90s, and the stretches over 100 are no longer rare. Heating is mild by comparison, with a design temperature around 35 to 38 degrees, so when a furnace finally dies the smarter move is often a heat pump rather than another gas unit. That single fact changes the math on most San Jose replacements.

We are ADRIUM Service Solutions, run by Andrew Kuznetsov out of San Ramon, working seven days a week across the Bay Area. The diagnostic visit is $75 and we waive it when you book the repair with us. Every quote is written and itemized before anyone touches your equipment, so you see the part, the labor, and the price before you decide.

The work we run most in San Jose

Across the city the calls split into a few clear buckets. AC repair carries the summer, usually a failed capacitor, a seized contactor, a low charge from a slow refrigerant leak, or a blower that quit. Furnace repair picks up in the cooler months, often an igniter, a flame sensor, or a pressure switch reading a blocked condensate line. The rest is replacement work on systems past 20 years, and a steady stream of heat pump and ductless mini-split jobs.

We hold EPA Section 608 Universal certification, which is the credential that actually matters when refrigerant comes out of a system. If your tech cannot legally recover R-410A or the older R-22, you should not let them open the lines. We can, and we log it. See AC repair for the cooling side and furnace repair for heating.

Eichlers and the ductless answer

Willow Glen, Cambrian, and the Fairglen tracts are full of original Eichlers, and they were built with radiant-slab heat and no ductwork at all. Most of those slabs are dead now, with copper buried in concrete that no one is going to chase and repair economically. For these homes the rule I use is simple: skip the slab, go ductless. Wall-mounted heads keep the famous open-beam ceilings clear, and the outdoor unit tucks into a side yard where it does not fight the architecture.

We carry Mitsubishi and Daikin for this work because their cold-climate inverters hold capacity well below San Jose's design temperature, which matters less for the cold here and more for quiet, efficient part-load running. I am Daikin factory-trained and have finished Mitsubishi Electric training courses, so the install and the commissioning are not guesswork.

When a furnace dies, the heat pump question

For 1990s and newer San Jose homes with good ducts, end-of-life replacement is now a fork in the road. You can drop in another gas furnace, or you can move to a heat pump and cover heating and cooling with one system. BAAQMD rules are tightening on gas furnace replacement later this decade, so a unit you install today may be the last gas one that house ever sees. I tell people the truth about both paths and let the numbers decide.

On rebates, we work with BayREN, PG&E, and San Jose Clean Energy, plus manufacturer instant rebates. Amounts and funding vary by territory and cycle, so we confirm what is actually paying when we write your estimate. We also run the DOE Home Energy Score audit through BayREN if you want a full picture before committing. For new equipment see HVAC installation.

Why homeowners here call us back

I came to this trade from engineering, and it shows in how we work a call. We measure before we recommend, we write the quote down, and we do not pad the ticket with parts your system does not need. The $75 diagnostic is real money toward the repair, not a throwaway fee, and it disappears the moment you book the work.

For the long haul, our maintenance plan keeps coils clean, charge correct, and small problems caught before a July afternoon turns them into a no-cool emergency. Deeper HVAC project work and design questions go through our HVAC division, Bay Area HVAC Service, but the repair, the service, and the everyday calls in San Jose are ours. Licensed CSLB #1136642, EPA #1279674151528.

Common questions, San Jose.

Do you service Eichler homes in Willow Glen and Cambrian?

Yes, and they are some of our most common San Jose jobs. The original radiant slabs are usually beyond economic repair, so we install ductless mini-splits that keep the open ceilings intact. Mitsubishi and Daikin are our standard equipment for these homes.

How much is a service call in San Jose?

The diagnostic visit is $75, and we waive it when you book the repair with us. You get a written, itemized quote before any work starts, so there are no surprises on the final bill.

Should I replace my old San Jose furnace with another furnace or a heat pump?

It depends on your ducts, your budget, and your timeline. With air-quality rules tightening on gas furnace replacement and our mild winters, a heat pump covers heating and cooling in one system and often makes sense here. We lay out both options in writing and let the numbers decide.

Are you licensed and certified to handle refrigerant?

Yes. We hold EPA Section 608 Universal certification, so we can legally recover and charge R-410A and the older R-22. We are CSLB licensed under #1136642 and carry EPA #1279674151528.
