- Broiler dead, oven bakes fine. San Mateo has a good number of Z-Line pro ranges in the Hillsdale and Baywood kitchens, and the failure I see most is the broiler ignitor and the upper thermocouple going out together, since the infrared broiler burner runs hotter than the bake side and wears both parts at the same rate. The oven keeps baking normally the whole time.
- Hood speed settings skipping. The capacitive touch pad on the hood lets grease into the seam over the years, and the speed buttons start dropping out, usually before the blower ever has a problem. I clean and reseal the pad on most San Mateo hood calls and only look at the control board if the sensors bench-test dead.
- Convection fan running long after the oven is off. A run of early Z-Line dual-fuel ranges had the cool-down thermistor mounted in the wrong spot, so the fan keeps going well past shutoff. I've swapped in the relocation bracket for a few San Mateo customers who were sure their fan motor was failing when it was actually fine.
