Foster City was built out on filled marshland around a lagoon system, and most of the homes I go into here are condos and townhomes rather than detached houses, which changes how the kitchen is laid out but not how a Z-Line unit fails.

- Hood buttons dropping out in a condo kitchen. Foster City kitchens are mostly condos and townhomes with shorter duct runs, and the capacitive touch pad on the Z-Line hood still gets grease in the seam the same as anywhere else, so a speed button or two starts skipping. I clean and reseal the pad first, since the blower is almost never the actual problem in these tighter installs.
- Ice maker or door seal on a panel-ready fridge. A lot of the waterfront condos and townhomes here went with panel-ready Z-Line fridges to match the cabinets, and the panel weight pulls the hinge side down over time so the door doesn't seal flush. The other common call is the ice-maker module itself quitting. Both are simple fixes once I know which one it is.
- Broiler won't fire, bake still fine. The infrared broiler burner on Z-Line pro ranges runs hot enough to wear out the ignitor and the upper thermocouple together, and I've seen that pair go in a handful of the newer Foster City townhome kitchens where the range was installed during construction. Bake side keeps working the whole time.
