- Hood buttons dropping out. Grease works into the seam of the capacitive touch pad on Z-Line hoods and the speed settings start skipping, usually the middle speed first. I see this in the Rollingwood and Portola District kitchens that have had the range and hood in for five plus years. Cleaning and resealing the pad fixes it most visits. The blower motor is rarely the actual problem.
- Fan keeps running after the oven shuts off. A batch of early Z-Line dual-fuel ranges left the factory with the cool-down thermistor in the wrong location, so the convection fan won't quit even though the display shows the oven off. I install the relocation bracket rather than chase the fan motor, since the fan itself is fine.
- Fridge door won't seal, or the ice maker stopped. San Bruno gets a fair number of panel-ready Z-Line fridges in the Tanforan-area remodels, and the panel weight pulls the door out of true over time so the gasket stops sealing flush. That, or the ice-maker module itself has quit. Both are common enough that I carry the parts on the truck for San Bruno calls.
