Wolf in Vallejo

Wolf in Vallejo kitchens.

A big Wolf dual-fuel or all-gas range asks a lot of the gas line that feeds it. In Vallejo's older Victorian and Craftsman houses downtown, the gas piping can be far older than the kitchen that was remodeled around the range. When the burners look strong one at a time but turn weak and lazy with the oven and three burners running together, we measure gas pressure at the range under full load before anyone blames a valve.

In the Glen Cove houses from the 1980s and 1990s and the homes in Hiddenbrooke, the kitchens are newer and the faults are the familiar Wolf ones: an oven that will not light, a dual-fuel oven running hot, a burner that will not hold a low simmer. Our technician for this area is based in Benicia, next door. The $99 diagnostic is credited toward the repair, and a written quote comes before any work.

Common repairs we handle.

  • Burners that weaken when the whole range is running. One burner alone looks fine. Add the oven and two more burners and every flame shrinks. We check pressure at the range inlet with everything lit, then look at the regulator and the shutoff. If the house piping is too small for the load, we say so plainly, since the gas line itself is work for a plumber.
  • Oven slow to heat while the burners are on. On an all-gas Wolf, a bake burner starved of pressure lights late and heats slowly. We check the ignitor current and the safety valve first, then repeat the preheat with and without burners lit. The difference tells us whether the part or the supply is at fault.
  • Oven bake that will not light. The hot-surface ignitor cracks or loses resistance with age, and without enough current the safety valve never opens. We measure the ignitor draw rather than guess, replace it when it reads weak, and time the light-off on a full bake. It is a part we usually carry.

FAQ

Wolf in Vallejo questions, answered.

  • Our downtown kitchen was remodeled around a large Wolf range. Why does the oven struggle when the burners are on?
A range that size draws a lot of gas with everything lit. If the supply piping or the regulator cannot keep up, the flames drop and the oven takes longer to heat. We test pressure under load. If the range itself checks out, we give you the reading so your plumber can size the line.
  • Do you cover Mare Island and South Vallejo for Wolf repairs?
Yes, along with Glen Cove, Hiddenbrooke and the neighborhoods around downtown. Send us the model and serial from the rating tag, usually behind the kick panel or on the oven door frame, and describe what the range does when it fails.
  • Is it safe to keep cooking on the burners while the Wolf oven is out?
Usually, yes. On an all-gas Wolf the oven and the burners have separate valves and ignition, and on a dual-fuel the oven is electric. If you smell gas at any point, shut the range off at its valve, air the room and call the gas utility first.
