- Console heater in a ranchette not lighting. A console heater stands against a wall and vents through it or the roof. When it will not light, we check the gas supply, pilot, thermocouple and gas valve in that order, and look at the vent too, since a blocked flue shuts some units down for safety.

Older floor and wall furnaces were often hooked up with a flexible gas connector that is now decades old, and old uncoated brass connectors are a known leak risk. We inspect the connector and shutoff, leak-test the fittings, and replace an old connector with a current one.
- Gravity wall furnace heating only its own room. A gravity wall furnace heats by convection, so rooms down the hall stay cooler. When the difference gets worse, the burner may be underfiring from low gas pressure or a dirty orifice. We check the input, clean the burner, and tell you honestly how much house a single wall unit can heat.

It depends on size and layout. A single wall furnace heats the room it faces well and the rooms beyond it less. In a small, open house it can do the job. In a larger or split-level house, a second unit or a ducted system may make more sense, and we can quote either. -
Do you replace floor furnaces in El Sobrante with wall furnaces?
When the floor unit is failing and the layout allows, yes. A wall furnace needs a suitable wall and a vent path. On some hillside houses a new floor furnace in the same opening is simpler. We look at both and put the choice in writing.
