Board, sensor and display work often happens with the unit pulled forward a few inches. A condenser clean or a sealed-system check may need it all the way out. We protect the floor and the cabinet edges and set it back level.

Does Benicia's dry summer heat affect a wine cooler?

A little. Thermoelectric cabinets in particular can only cool so far below the room, so a warm kitchen in July shows up as a warm cabinet. Compressor models cope better, as long as the condenser stays clean and the vents stay open.

When a dual-zone Vinotemp built into that new cabinetry acts up, it tends to show one of three symptoms: a blank display, one warm compartment, or two zones stuck near the same temperature.

Each of those can point to the control board, the display board, a zone sensor, or the air damper between compartments. On a dual-zone model such as the VT-BORDEAUX2H, the control board can come out for testing, and we check the sensors and damper it drives before calling for a new one. Our technician is based right here in Benicia. We are an independent shop for Vinotemp. The $99 diagnostic is credited toward the repair, and the price is in writing before any work.

Common repairs we handle.

Blank display on a dual-zone built-in. We confirm power at the outlet and the supply, check the ribbon connection to the display board, then test the control board's outputs. A dark screen alone is not enough to condemn the main board.
Two zones drifting to the same temperature. When both compartments settle together, the air damper may be stuck, or a zone sensor may be feeding the control a false reading. We read each sensor, watch the damper move on command, and replace the part that fails the test.
Compressor running hot in a closed cabinet. Built-in cabinets can trap heat if the front vent is blocked or the condenser is dusty. We clean the condenser, load-test the condenser fan, and check that the vent path through the cabinetry stays open.
