A Vinotemp badge can mean a small thermoelectric cabinet on a counter or a Wine-Mate unit cooling a whole wine room. In Vallejo's Glen Cove houses, many of them three-bedroom-plus homes from the 1980s and 1990s, and out in Hiddenbrooke, the bigger setups are the ones that most clearly justify a real diagnosis, because replacing a cellar system or a built-in means reworking the opening too.
Vallejo's climate is mild and bay-cooled, which is kind to a cellar cooling unit. When a Wine-Mate still cannot hold the room, we work through it in order: thermostat, evaporator airflow, compressor circuit, then the refrigerant side. Our technician is EPA 608 Type I certified for that last step. The technician for Vallejo is based in Benicia, next door. We charge a $99 diagnostic, credited toward the repair, and give you a written quote before work starts.
Common repairs we handle.
- Wine-Mate cellar unit running but the room stays warm. We check the thermostat reading against a probe in the room, then evaporator airflow and any ice on the coil. Next come the compressor circuit and the condenser. Only after those do we read the refrigerant side, so a fan or a sensor never gets quoted as a sealed-system job.
- Countertop thermoelectric cabinet gone warm. We test the cooling module, the inside and outside fans, and the power supply one at a time. A stalled fan can make a good module look dead, so we do not swap the expensive part on a guess.
- Door gasket torn on a compressor cabinet. A flattened or split gasket adds a steady heat load and keeps the compressor running. We close the door on a strip of paper around the seal, replace the gasket if it lets go, and check that the door hangs level.

FAQ
Vinotemp in Vallejo questions, answered.
-
Our Hiddenbrooke wine room uses a Wine-Mate. Can you service it, or do we need a cellar specialist?
We service Wine-Mate cellar cooling units. The diagnosis is refrigeration work: thermostat, airflow, compressor circuit and refrigerant. If the room itself leaks air or lacks insulation, we point that out, since no cooling unit can make up for it. -
Our countertop Vinotemp in a Glen Cove kitchen stopped cooling. Repair or replace?
On a basic thermoelectric cabinet, a fan or a cooling module can still make sense, while a control board may push the repair too close to the price of a new one. We tell you which part failed and give you the written number, so the choice is yours. -
Does Vallejo's mild weather help a Vinotemp kept in the garage?
It helps. A garage near the bay stays cooler than an inland one, so a compressor cabinet out there works less. Keep the vents clear of boxes and dust, and check the ambient temperature range in the manual before you commit to that spot.
