- Drain line frozen in a reach-in freezer. Defrost water leaves the cabinet through a heated drain. If the drain heater fails, the water refreezes in the line, backs up and builds a sheet of ice on the cabinet floor. We clear the line, test the drain heater and replace it if it reads open.

Is it okay to leave the ice on the freezer coil until you arrive?
Leave it. Do not chip at it, because the fins and tubes puncture easily and a hole turns a defrost repair into a sealed-system job. The ice pattern also tells us which defrost part failed. -
How long can product stay in a Victory freezer that has stopped?
A full freezer with the doors kept shut holds longer than a half-empty one, but go by product temperature, not the clock. Frozen food that has thawed past safe limits has to be thrown out, so move it early if you have space in another freezer. -
