Coastside units pull in salt-laden air constantly, and it settles on the condenser coil fins and on contactor points where it eats away at the metal over time. A coil caked with salt and grime can't reject heat properly, and the box runs long or never quite hits temperature. I clean the coil, check the contactor for pitting, and flag any wiring showing early corrosion before it becomes a failure.
Door gasket and hinge wear from harbor-restaurant humidity and traffic. The harbor restaurants run heavy door traffic on top of the coastal humidity, and that combination ages gaskets faster than a dry inland kitchen would see. A gasket that's gone soft and won't seal lets moist air into the box, which frosts the coil and drives the compressor harder. I replace gaskets and rebuild hinge cartridges together so the door actually closes tight again.
INTELA-TRAUL sensor faults from corroded probe connections. A probe itself can be fine while the connector or wiring feeding it corrodes from salt exposure, and the controller reads that as a sensor fault or throws an erratic temperature alarm. I check the wiring and connections before I assume the probe needs replacing, since swapping a good probe doesn't fix a corroded connector.
