Hot Surface Igniter Failure. The most common no-heat call on Tempstar gas furnaces in Martinez is a cracked or burned-out hot surface igniter. The furnace calls for heat, the inducer spins up, the board sends voltage to the igniter, and nothing lights. The board logs a lockout code and the cycle repeats two or three times before it shuts down hard.
