- Two-stage furnace control faults. On the newer Ruud two-stage furnaces the control board or the staging logic faults and the furnace runs on low only, so the house never quite warms up. I test the board and staging and replace what is failed.
- Condenser run capacitor failure. The summer heat is hard on the Ruud outdoor unit, and the run capacitor bulges and fails so the compressor will not start. I carry the right capacitor and replace it, then verify the charge and amp draw.
- Hot-surface ignitor cracks. The silicon-nitride ignitor cracks and the burner will not light. I install the correct ignitor and run the full ignition sequence to confirm reliable firing.
