Pacifica sits right on the coast, and that means salt spray in the air almost every day, more in the neighborhoods closest to Rockaway Beach, Sharp Park, and Linda Mar. I see reduced airflow and charge issues from corroded fins years before a Danville unit would show the same wear, and I clean or replace what the salt has eaten through.
Contactor and relay contact corrosion. Moisture and salt get into the outdoor disconnect and the contactor points, and the contacts pit until the AC will not start reliably or hums without engaging. I clean or replace the contactor and check the disconnect box for water intrusion.
Furnace control board corrosion in damp closets. A lot of Pacifica furnace closets sit close to an exterior wall that never fully dries out in the fog season, and the board traces corrode over months. I look for a greenish film on the board contacts and replace the board before it fails outright.
