After the power went out
A 2006 Monogram built-in side-by-side, model ZISS420DRISS, stopped cooling in both compartments right after a power outage. The fans seemed to be running, yet the freezer's back wall had barely any frost. The owner had already listed suspects: the compressor inverter, the main board or the sealed system.
Up top, behind the grille, the variable-speed compressor runs only through its own control unit, the inverter board. That board had burned out from the power fluctuations. We replaced it. It was the first suspect on the owner's list.
The second Danville case is heavier. A Monogram built-in needed a new evaporator coil and heat exchanger, which is sealed-system work, and we replaced both. The published account does not say what the owner first noticed.
