Mitsubishi in Half Moon Bay
Mitsubishi in Half Moon Bay kitchens.
Half Moon Bay is the anchor of the Coastside, and we cover the smaller towns strung along Highway 1 around it too: Montara, Moss Beach, and El Granada. Homes near Main Street and the harbor restaurants and out along the coast bluffs rely on Mitsubishi ductless heads for rooms the original heating never handled evenly, especially additions facing the water.
The salt air out here is the real difference from anywhere inland. It works on outdoor condenser fins and on circuit boards over time in a way that a Danville or San Ramon unit never has to deal with. I see corrosion-related faults on the coast that I almost never see fifteen miles inland.
I check the fault code and inspect the outdoor unit closely on every coastal call, since corrosion doesn't generally show up the same way twice. We hold EPA 608 certification and CSLB #1136642. The diagnostic is $99 and is credited toward the repair, and you get a written quote before any part is ordered. We're out seven days a week, and the Coastside is a regular part of the route for our Peninsula-based technician.

Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Outdoor coil fins corroding from salt air. On a coastal install, the fins on the outdoor condenser corrode faster than they would inland, and once enough fin surface is eaten away, the unit can't reject heat properly and loses capacity. I inspect the fin condition closely on every Half Moon Bay call, not just the refrigerant charge.
- Circuit board faulting intermittently from coastal moisture. The damp, salty air along the coast gets into control boards over the years and causes corrosion on the contacts, which shows up as an intermittent fault code that comes and goes rather than a clean failure. I look for board corrosion specifically before assuming the fault is something else.
- Condensate drain growing algae in the damp climate. Half Moon Bay stays damp enough, even outside the rainy months, that condensate lines grow algae faster than in drier towns, which clogs the line and trips the float switch or lets the head drip. I clear and check the drain on coastal service calls as a matter of course.

FAQ
Mitsubishi in Half Moon Bay questions, answered.
-
Do you cover Montara, Moss Beach, and El Granada too, or just Half Moon Bay itself?
All of it. The Coastside runs as one route for our Peninsula-based technician, so Montara, Moss Beach, and El Granada get the same coverage as Half Moon Bay proper. -
Does the salt air out here really damage the outdoor unit?
Yes. I see corrosion on outdoor coil fins and inside control boards on the coast that inland units almost never develop, and it's usually the first thing I check on a Half Moon Bay call. -
My unit smells musty or drips water from the head. Is that serious?
Usually it's algae in the condensate drain line, which is common in this damp coastal climate and straightforward to clear. I check the drain and the float switch before considering anything more involved.
