Oakland is big enough that the Miele work splits pretty cleanly into two patterns. Downtown and Uptown, near the restaurant and cafe corridor on Broadway and Telegraph, the units are mostly compact columns and dishwashers in condo and loft conversions with tight kitchen footprints.

Up in the hills, Rockridge, Montclair, and the areas bordering Piedmont, I get called to full estate-style kitchens with a MasterCool column and sometimes a second dishwasher for entertaining space. Those jobs tend to be older installs that have been running for a decade or more before something finally fails.

What we close on the truck.

KF Column Defrost Drain Clog. In the tighter downtown and Uptown installs, the KF column's defrost drain clogs and the water tracks out under the cabinetry, often surfacing a foot or two away from the unit itself rather than right at the base. I clear the drain, test the heater, and check the seal on the door so moisture isn't getting pulled in faster than the drain can handle.
MasterCool Column Running Warm or Icing Up. The older hill-neighborhood columns that have been in service ten-plus years are where I find most of the sealed-system leaks, since a unit that age has had more time for a slow leak to finally show up as a warm compartment. I check the evaporator fan and coil temperature first, because a bad fan looks identical to low refrigerant until you actually measure it.
G Series Dishwasher Drain Pump, Inlet Valve, and Control Faults. These dishwashers run quiet for years and then quit mid-cycle with water sitting in the tub, and it's almost always the drain pump, the inlet valve, or a control fault. I pull the code off the display before I take a single panel off, so I know which part to bring.
