- Clogged Defrost Drain on KF Bottom-Freezer Columns. The KF column's defrost drain clog is the most common call we get in Martinez. Ice chips or crumbs block the tube, defrost water backs up and freezes under the crisper drawers, then thaws and leaks out somewhere that looks unrelated to the fridge, sometimes through the floor into a downstairs area of these older waterfront homes. I trace the drain, clear it, and check the defrost heater and timer before closing it back up.
- G Series Dishwasher Drain Pump, Inlet Valve, and Control Faults. Martinez's G Series dishwashers fail in three predictable ways: a drain pump that seizes or clogs and leaves standing water at the end of the cycle, an inlet or aquastop valve that fails and either won't fill or trips the flood safety pan, or a control board that throws a fault code. I read the code off the display first and order the actual part instead of guessing.
- MasterCool Column Airflow Restriction and Compressor Overload. In some of the older Martinez remodels, the MasterCool column ends up boxed into a cabinet run that was retrofitted around it rather than built for it, and the vent clearance falls short of Miele's spec. The compressor can't shed heat properly, runs long, overheats, and trips the overload protector or starts short-cycling. I check the venting before touching the sealed system, because a new compressor in the same tight space just fails again.
