Washer won't fill or fills slow (inlet valve screen). On well-water properties out toward Skyline, sediment and fine mineral grit collect in the small screens inside the water inlet valve until the washer barely fills or times out on the fill cycle. I pull the valve, clean or replace the screens, and check the household pressure, because a valve that clogs once on well water will clog again without a look at what's feeding it.
Dryer running hot, then cold, on a restricted vent (high-limit thermostat). Wildfire-aware homeowners here often fit their dryer vent cap with a fine spark-arrestor screen, and that mesh loads with lint faster than an open vent hood would. The restricted airflow runs the Maytag dryer hot until the high-limit thermostat trips, cools, and repeats, stretching a single cycle into two. I replace the tripped parts and give you a straight read on whether the vent cap itself is choking the dryer more than it should, before the parts fail again.
Dishwasher leaves film and won't dry (heating element and scale). The heating element in an MDB-series dishwasher handles both the final rinse temperature and the drying, and well water mineral content scales it faster than city supply does. Once the element opens up or the scale insulates it, glasses come out cloudy and everything stays wet. I test the element with a meter before swapping it, since a scaled element can look like a bad control relay from the kitchen.
