Sour smell that returns after every cleaning. When a defrost drain partly clogs, a little water stands in the channel behind the rear panel and grows a film that shelf cleaning never reaches. We flush the drain, clean the channel and the drip tray, and make sure the next defrost runs clear to the tray.
Ice maker stopped by a frozen fill tube. If the fill tube into the ice maker freezes, water cannot reach the mold and the ice maker sits idle. A water valve that drips between fills, or a freezer running too cold near the inlet, is the usual cause. We thaw the tube, test the valve for leaks and check the fill tube heater if the model has one.
