Lennox in Half Moon Bay
Lennox in Half Moon Bay kitchens.
Half Moon Bay sits right on the coast, so the climate here is nothing like the inland Bay Area. Fog and salt air keep temperatures mild and damp most of the year, which means heating carries almost all the load and air conditioning barely gets used, even in a home with a full Lennox system installed. That is true from the homes near Main Street and the harbor restaurants out through Montara, Moss Beach and El Granada, all of which we cover as part of the Coastside.
The salt air is the real factor out here. It gets into condenser coils and electrical contacts faster than anywhere else we work, corroding fins and pitting contactor points years before the same parts would fail inland. On top of that, Lennox keeps its control boards and modules dealer-restricted, so when a defrost board or a control does fail, sourcing it takes longer and costs more than a Carrier or Trane part, and I tell you that lead time straight instead of guessing.
ADRIUM Service Solutions operates as Bay Area HVAC Service, CSLB #1136642, and my certification is EPA 608 Universal. The Coastside is covered by a technician based on the Peninsula in San Mateo County, which is what makes regular service out here possible instead of an occasional special trip. The $99 diagnostic is credited toward the repair, quotes come in writing, and we are available 7 days a week.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Salt air corrosion on condenser coil fins near the harbor and Main Street. Homes close to the harbor and Main Street take the worst of the salt air, and the aluminum fins on a Lennox condenser coil corrode and thin out faster than inland units, eventually opening a refrigerant leak at the coil itself. I check coil condition and pressure together rather than just topping off refrigerant, since a leak there will drain right back out.
- Heat pump stuck in frequent defrost cycles in constant coastal fog. With fog holding the outdoor coil cold and damp most of the day, a Lennox heat pump on the Coastside can go into defrost far more often than the same unit would inland, and if the defrost board or sensor is marginal, the house never gets warm between cycles. I verify the defrost sensor reading and board timing before replacing either part.
- Contactor and control corrosion causing intermittent operation. Salt air pits contactor points and corrodes control board contacts over a few seasons, especially on units near El Granada and Moss Beach that sit closest to open coast. The symptom is usually a system that runs fine some days and not at all on others. I clean and test the actual contacts before assuming a whole board needs replacing.

FAQ
Lennox in Half Moon Bay questions, answered.
-
Half Moon Bay feels far from San Ramon. Do you really come out here?
Yes, regularly. A technician based on the Peninsula in San Mateo County covers the Coastside, including Montara, Moss Beach and El Granada. I won't promise same-day, but Half Moon Bay gets treated as a normal call, not a special trip. -
Does the salt air really do that much damage to a Lennox system out here?
It does. Coils and contactor points corrode noticeably faster near the coast than they do even a few miles inland. I inspect for that specifically on every Coastside call, since it changes what actually needs replacing. -
My AC barely runs but the heat is on constantly. Is something wrong with my Lennox?
Probably not. Out here the fog keeps cooling loads low almost all year, so a system that runs mostly on heat and rarely on cooling is normal for the Coastside, not a sign of a problem.
