Lennox in Pacifica

Lennox in Pacifica kitchens.

Pacifica is the one city on this list where I think about corrosion before I think about anything else. Homes on the west side near Rockaway Beach and along the Pacifica coastline sit directly in salt-laden fog most of the year, and that eats condenser fins, cabinet screws and electrical contacts faster than anywhere else nearby. Homes up in Linda Mar Valley sit far enough inland that the salt exposure drops off some, though the fog and damp are still constant. Lennox heat pumps and furnaces both go in here, and on the coastal side I push harder on protective placement and more frequent coil cleaning than I would in Daly City or San Bruno. We cover Pacifica along with Daly City, San Bruno and Half Moon Bay.

We're Bay Area HVAC Service, the HVAC division of ADRIUM Service Solutions, San Ramon based, and Andrew holds EPA Section 608 Universal certification with CSLB #1136642 on file. Pacifica is far enough out on the coast that we route it through our Peninsula-based technician in San Mateo County rather than the San Ramon crew. You pay $99 for the diagnostic, it is credited toward the repair, we hand you a written quote first, and we're available all seven days.

Lennox condensers and heat pumps can be built to survive salt air, but only if you stay ahead of corrosion, and the parts side isn't simple either. Boards and control modules are proprietary and dealer-restricted, so replacing one after the coast finally gets to it takes longer than sourcing a Carrier or Trane part would. I lay out that timeline before you decide anything.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Condenser coil corrosion from salt-laden fog. Outdoor coils on the Rockaway Beach and west-side homes take a beating from salt in the fog, and the aluminum fins corrode and thin out years before they would inland. A corroded coil loses capacity gradually, so the system just seems to cool worse every summer until it's obviously struggling. I inspect fin condition and coil integrity as part of every Pacifica visit.
  • Outdoor cabinet and screw corrosion loosening panels. The sheet metal cabinet and mounting screws on a coastal-side Lennox condenser rust through faster than on the same unit in Linda Mar Valley, and a loose or corroded panel can let moisture into the electrical compartment. I check cabinet integrity and fastener condition, not just refrigerant and airflow.
  • Contactor and disconnect corrosion inside the outdoor unit. Salt fog works its way into the outdoor disconnect and the contactor terminals over the years, and corroded contacts create resistance that overheats the connection or drops the circuit intermittently. I clean or replace corroded terminals and contactors rather than just clearing a code and moving on.

FAQ

Lennox in Pacifica questions, answered.

  • Pacifica feels out of the way. Can you actually get here quickly?
We can, because Pacifica is covered by the technician we base on the Peninsula in San Mateo County rather than the San Ramon crew. It's a normal stop for him, not a special trip.
  • Does the salt air really shorten my system's life?
It can, especially right along the coast near Rockaway Beach. Coil fins and cabinet hardware corrode faster there than in Linda Mar Valley or inland, so I check for it every visit and recommend more frequent coil cleaning on coastal-facing units.
  • Is there anything I can do to protect a new Lennox unit from the salt air?
Placement and airflow around the unit help, and rinsing accumulated salt off the coil periodically slows the corrosion down. I go over placement with you before any new unit goes in.
