Lennox in Castro Valley

Lennox heating and cooling in Castro Valley.

Castro Valley sits between the bay and the inland heat, so it runs warmer than Hayward below it and cooler than Dublin over the hill. The housing is mostly postwar ranch homes and some hillside and canyon houses, a lot of single-story 1950s and 1960s construction with original ductwork in the attic or crawlspace. Lennox systems here are usually straightforward single-zone heat pumps or AC plus furnace pairings.

For a Castro Valley ranch a Lennox single-stage or two-stage system is a clean fit, and the SEER numbers are good. My standard caveat applies. Lennox runs proprietary, dealer-restricted parts, so a furnace control board or a specific blower motor can take longer and cost more than the same Carrier or Trane part. The climate here is moderate, so a short parts wait is usually fine, but I give you the honest timeline before we order anything.

ADRIUM Service Solutions handles HVAC through Bay Area HVAC Service. Andrew Kuznetsov, EPA 608 Universal, CSLB #1136642. Diagnostic $75 waived with repair, written quotes, 7 days a week.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Furnace control board lockout on older Lennox gas furnaces. Castro Valley ranches often run aging Lennox gas furnaces, and the ignition control board locks out so you get no heat. I check the igniter, flame sensor and pressure switch first, because the board itself is dealer-restricted and I do not want to replace a good one.
  • Blower motor and capacitor failures in attic air handlers. Heat from attic and crawlspace installs cooks the Lennox blower motor and its capacitor. When airflow drops or the blower will not start, I test the capacitor and motor windings so we replace the right part, since the ECM module is slow to source.
  • Heat pump reversing valve stuck between heat and cool. On Lennox heat pumps we see the reversing valve hang up, so the system blows cold when it should heat. I confirm the valve and its solenoid coil rather than chasing refrigerant, then quote the repair in writing.

FAQ

Lennox in Castro Valley questions, answered.

  • How far is Castro Valley from your San Ramon base?
About 25 to 30 minutes over the hill on 580. We route Castro Valley with our Hayward, San Leandro and Dublin work, so we are in the area often and can usually come same week or sooner.
  • My Castro Valley ranch has the original 1960s furnace. Repair or replace the Lennox?
We diagnose first and tell you straight. If the heat exchanger is sound, a board or igniter repair makes sense. If it is failing, we quote a replacement with 10-year parts and 10-year labor.
  • Does the diagnostic fee apply if I go ahead with the repair?
No. The $75 diagnostic is waived when you approve the repair, and the repair quote comes to you in writing first.
