KitchenAid in Foster City

KitchenAid in Foster City kitchens.

Foster City went up as a planned community on filled bay land starting in the 1960s, and the housing reflects that: mostly condos, townhomes, and single-family houses clustered around the lagoons, built inside a narrower range of years than you'd find in an older Peninsula city. Kitchens here run galley-style more often than not, and that's exactly the footprint a counter-depth KitchenAid refrigerator or a 30-inch slide-in range is built for.

Because most of this housing dates from a fairly consistent stretch of decades, I'm not chasing the twenty-year sealed-system failures I see in older cities nearly as often. What comes up instead is component-level: an icemaker fed through shared condo or townhome plumbing, a range control board, a door seal on a built-in column that's shifted slightly with the cabinetry around it. Waterfront town, but the calls have more to do with how tight these kitchens are built than anything to do with the lagoons.

We're out to Foster City seven days a week. The $99 diagnostic comes off the bill when you book the repair, and I give you a written quote before starting.

What the work looks like

A built-in sealed-system leak repair.

Nitrogen pressure and a soap-bubble test on a built-in fridge line set. We map every leak source before we braze.
The corroded copper up close. After fifteen-plus years this is why a real fix rebuilds the sealed run, so you do not pay the labor twice.

Brazing a new line onto the compressor during the same kind of sealed-system repair. Recover, braze, evacuate, and recharge: the real fix, done as one complete job.

What the work looks like

A dishwasher leaking from the pump and sump.

The base of a Whirlpool-family dishwasher, where the circulation pump, sump, and diverter live. A worn pump seal, a cracked sump, or the diverter lets water past and onto the floor.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Icemaker fill line through shared plumbing. No ice or a slow fill, common where the water line runs through condo or HOA-managed plumbing rather than a straight run from the wall. I trace the line before assuming the icemaker assembly itself is bad.
  • Slide-in range control board. Bake stalls partway through or the display stops responding on a unit that's otherwise in good shape. I read the board in diagnostic mode before I replace anything.
  • Panel-ready column door seal. A built-in column fitted into a tight galley can develop a seal issue if the surrounding cabinetry shifts slightly over the years. Usually a hinge or leveling adjustment rather than a parts replacement.

FAQ

KitchenAid in Foster City questions, answered.

  • How quickly can you respond to a Foster City call?
Foster City calls go to our Peninsula-based technician in San Mateo County rather than a truck making the trip up from San Ramon. I'll give you an honest window when you call, not a guess.
  • Do you work in condos and townhomes, or just single-family homes?
Both, and most of what I see in Foster City is a condo or townhome kitchen built around a counter-depth fridge or a slim column, so that's regular work here.
  • Is a newer KitchenAid unit in Foster City usually worth repairing?
Almost always. Most of this housing is newer, so I'm rarely looking at sealed-system failure from age. An icemaker, a control board, or a door seal are all straightforward repairs on a unit still within its working life.
